👋 Hello, my quilty friends! It’s time for Saturday Morning Cartoons!
My friend, Kaitlyn @knotandthread and I spend an unreasonable amount of time talking about fabric.
Fabric we have. Fabric we want. Fabric we absolutely do not need. Fabric we might need. Fabric we can very easily come up with a reason to need.
In fact, just yesterday we were Marco Polo-ing about an upcoming fabric line and whether we should order bolts and split them. You know, because splitting the bolts somehow makes the whole thing feel much more reasonable.
There is a constant battle between I should use what I have and but have you SEEN this fabric?!
If you ever watched Lark Rise to Candleford, you’ll understand when I say fabric is “my one weakness.” (One of many one weaknesses, obviously.)
And @rubystarsociety fabric might be my biggest weakness of all. Every time I turn around, they’re coming out with another collection I convince myself I need.
So tell me: How good are you at actually using what you have? Are you pretty disciplined about your fabric buying, or is there a designer, company, or type of fabric that gets you every single time?
As for our fabric-buying fast? Great idea.
Starting Monday.
Creator’s Note: Every Saturday Morning Cartoon starts with a real-life quilting moment. Dave (my husband) is the illustrator behind the comics, and I’m usually the inspiration for the story. He’s been drawing comics since he was a kid, created a comic strip for our university newspaper when we were dating, illustrated editorial cartoons, and even produced weekly comic-style Sunday School lessons for years. It’s been so much fun combining his love of drawing with my love of quilting to create these for our quilty community each week.
Remember to hit your favorite quilt shop today because the fabric buying fast starts Monday! @cornwagonquilts, I’m coming for you!
