Economy Stars - Quilt Pattern
Every block in this quilt is a sawtooth star with a classic economy block tucked right in the middle, and I am a little obsessed with watching them come together. You'll say "just one more star" like ten times… minimum.
Here's my favorite part: every fat quarter gets cut the exact same way. One cutting diagram, twenty fat quarters, and you're off! Pull 20 prints you love, mix them up, and each star turns out a little bit different.
This pattern includes bonus 3-color and 4-color versions I've been playing with. It's written for intermediate beginners and up, with step-by-step diagrams the whole way through.
Finished quilt size: 64" x 80" (20 blocks, 16" each)

Pattern at a glance
What's inside the pattern
Up close with Economy Stars
I used 20 fat quarters of Ruby + Bee Solids by Windham Fabrics (all the colors are listed on the back of the pattern). I backed mine in a gorgeous Rifle Paper Co. floral from the Wildwood collection and bound it with my favorite black and white stripe from Moda Fabrics.
Four ways to make your stars
The scrappy version is where my heart is, but I couldn't stop there. The pattern includes three more colorways with their own fabric and cutting charts, so you can go full scrappy, keep it to a few solids, or anything in between.

Scrappy
Twenty fat quarters, all mixed up. Every star gets its own little personality, and the economy block centers keep everything feeling cozy and classic. If you have a stack of fat quarters you've been petting for months (no judgment, same), this is their moment.

Four Color
Ladybug, Fuchsia, Prussian Blue and Peacock in Moda Bella Solids. The blocks trade places in a checkerboard so the stars flip from blue to red across the whole quilt. It's bold, graphic and so much fun to watch come together.

Three Color
Red, mid pink and light pink, and nothing else. It reads like a valentine from across the room! Light pink centers and red centers alternate, so the quilt has this sweet little rhythm to it.

Three Color + Background
The same three pinks and reds plus a crisp white background for the centers and corners. The white gives your eyes a little rest and makes every single star sparkle.
