Ruby Star Society Juicy Fabric Collection – Melody Miller’s Fresh-Squeezed Hit

Hello, my quilty friends!

When Melody Miller dropped Juicy last fall, I felt the same rush I did the first time I unwrapped her beloved Clementine collection back in 2018. Only this time the color dial is turned all the way up. Juicy arrives with twenty-nine prints—yes, twenty-nine!—spilling over with tiny retro juice cartons, sparkling citrus wedges, woven-cane textures, fluttery butterflies, poppy gardens, hearts, diamonds, and itsy-bitsy “baby flowers.” I absolutely love It—jewel-tone teals, sorbet pinks, sunny buttercup yellows, fresh greens, and creamy low volumes dotted with metallic “seeds.”

From Cotton + Steel to Ruby Star Society—Melody’s Arc

If you’re new to the Melody Miller fan club, here’s the quick recap. A decade ago she co-founded Cotton + Steel under RJR Fabrics and helped light the modern-quilting world on fire. When corporate changes threatened that spark in 2018, she and the four other founders walked away—no distribution deal, no safety net. Within months they resurfaced at Moda as Ruby Star Society, intent on designing “fabrics for brave makers.” That bravery reminds me of one of my favorite Melody Miller quotes (about her scrappy childhood):

“My childhood wasn’t easy. If I wanted something, I had to make that happen, and it’s become part of my nature now. I’m just very driven to keep moving forward.” - Melody Miller

Don't you just love it? It also remind me of one of my favorite quotes (that I first heard from reading about Melody—It's one of her faves too):

“Leap and the net will appear" - John Burroughs

What Makes Juicy Sing

Melody calls this collection a Clementine “follow-up,” but it’s less of a remix and more of a bolder second verse. The hero print—simply named “Juicy”—stacks vintage juice boxes beside cut citrus in three colorways (Dark Turquoise, Sorbet, and Golden Hour). Large-scale “Poppy Garden” blooms turn any WOF cut into instant statement panels, while “Rattan” behaves like a textured solid that softens the brightest brights. “Stacked Up,” “Fluttering,” “Diamonds,” “Hearts,” and “Baby Flowers” round out the supporting cast, shifting scale so every block can sparkle or breathe on cue. Moda produced a full slate of precuts: fat-quarter bundles, jelly rolls, layer cakes, charm packs, and mini charms.

Curated Juicy Bundles

I couldn’t resist slicing into my own bolts to build bundles that play together perfectly. Each stack is hand-cut in my home and ready to ship:

Juicy Fat Quarter Bundle – the “greatest hits” mix with a bit of every motif.

Juicy Geo Fabric Bundle – rattan, diamonds, and stacked scallops for architects-at-heart.

Juicy Juice Boxes Fabric Bundle – every shade of the carton print, perfect for fussy-cut centers.

Juicy Hearts & Argyle Fabric Bundle – sweet motifs for love-soaked quilts and Valentine projects.

Juicy Floral Fabric Bundle – poppy gardens and baby blooms for quilts that smell like summer.

Each bundle is limited to what I can cut before the bolts run low, and several colorways have already disappeared from wholesalers—so treat yourself while the juice is still fresh.

Before you check out, peek at my “From the Vault” Colorful Fat Quarter Bundle. It’s a hand-picked mash-up of retired Ruby Star prints that slip effortlessly into the Juicy palette, adding depth and unexpected pops of texture.

On Final Thought...

Melody’s story reminds me of my own. When we launched Maker Valley, I had zero proof that It would work—but Dave and I leapt anyway, crossing our fingers HARD, and the net magically appeared in the form of quilty friends like you. Melody and Juicy remind me to keep leaping: to try the louder color, to piece the bolder block, to dream the bigger business dream. I hope it nudges you the same way.

Happy making!
